Anais Azul is a multi instrumentalist, singer and composer based in both California and Boston, that I met at last year’s CD Baby DIY Musician conference. In this episode we talk about what brought Anais’s family from their native Peru to the US, going to Boston University to study music and composition, and what projects and communities keep them bi-coastal. We hear about the musical projects that Anais is involved in as well as their solo music, and multifaceted performances that Anais’s goal are to be as interactive as possible, with the intent of being collective healing/meditation events as much as they are musical performances. Finally we touch on the current COVID-19 situation, what Anais has done to pivot as a music teacher, and what listeners can do to shift their mindset to improve their positivity.
